Carey Davis

Carey is a Director on the Empower Schools team. Since joining Empower Schools in 2018, Carey has led systems change initiatives through close partnerships with stakeholders at the school-, district-, and state agency- levels to advance innovative approaches to education with a focus on long-term sustainability and improving outcomes for students. This has included supporting the launch of rural innovation projects, working with local leaders to develop innovation schools to better meet the needs of their students, and collaborating with state education agencies to design and implement innovation strategies to improve educational opportunities. Prior to joining the Empower Schools team, Carey was an elementary school special education teacher in her hometown of Dallas, Texas.

Carey has a B.S. in Special Education from Vanderbilt University and a master's degree in Education Policy and Management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Outside of work, Carey is involved in a variety of local nonprofits as a board member and volunteer.
